He totally lost me with this one: If you say you’re enjoying sex with the same person after a couple of years you’re either a liar or on something.
The jarring thing about this article is that I agree with about half of his statements, but they’re scattered in a seemingly random mix with the statements I don’t get, or disagree with, or find ridiculous, and I can’t find any logical connections between them all. At the end, I feel like I just read a bunch of unconnected statements.
I don’t agree with this guy, but I think I can understand his point. I do, however, think he needs more excitement in his life if he needs to wish that scampi was illegal just for a bit of excitement.
I think others have already made the point… At the “you’re eiter a liar or on something,” I decided he was a loon. But I still can’t decide whether to detest or pity him. I guess a bit of each.
Oh, and add to the list of quotes that make one’s bile rise: “love being the delusion that one woman differs from another”
This is the very core of the misogynist worldview. All women are equally contemptible, there’s no difference between them. This isn’t a man who “loves whores”. It’s a man who likes getting laid, but hates the fact that he has to deal with those icky women in order to do so.
Well call me a liar then. Unenjoyable sex has never been the reason for the end of a relationship with me. When I was married we were having good sex right up to the 8 year mark.
Beyond the idea that I think love actually IS worth having, I really don’t think that buying sex would work for me for one simple reason – I’m too picky. I have yet to see any male pornstar or stripper that I find more than passingly attractive and I rather doubt the escort business is much better. Longhaired willowy geekboys just don’t lean in that direction 🙂
And, well, I’ve proved at least a couple of times that sex with people I’m not attracted to just depresses me.
That seems like a fellow who’d find a cocktail-party topic or two if you placed him next to the Marquis de Sade and martinis.
Not that he doesn’t have some valid points, but I have to kinda choke on “it’s highly enjoyable, so it should be illegal” 🙂

Yup. It is odd. I think that is why I like it.
