I am quite sad. I took my piercings out. They are infected. I have been cleaning and doing what I was supposed to for 9 weeks. I’m done. I’m sick of them hurting all the time and being gross.
I really don’t seem to be meant to have metal.

I had that same problem with my nipple piercings. So sad…
Uh, wait, aren’t you supposed to get some kind of treatment if they are infected?
In the world of piercings (at least with all the people I know and that’s a pretty large number of people) there isn’t a whole lot that can be done to save an infected piercing. Take it out, keep cleaning, and let it heal. Problem solved.
I didn’t mean to save the piercing, I mean to stop the infection.
I once successfully cured an infection on an ear cartilate piercing with neosporin. they say you’re not supposed to use it that way, but it worked. I’d be a little more hesitant to try that on more intimate piercings though.
Standard surgical?
I can’t maintain surgical. 14 K gold is what my body tolerates. I still heal _much_ slower than is ever expected but I get to keep my metal. I know it may not be in your budget right now, but it may be a thought if you feel drawn to being pierced again. My ears run me on average of $110 for 2 18g-14k hoops with amethyst beads. Yes, I do tend to take a long time between punctures.
metal allergies
Awww sweetie – that sucks, lo siento 🙁
A lot of folks are allergic to certain metals, most commonly nickel (spelling?) Nickel is used in stainless steel alloy (even surgical stainless steel) – when I worked at the Gauntlet, that was the most common allergic reaction.
Some folks also have issues with 14K gold – I don’t know what other metals are used for 14K but I did know of a fair number of folk who had problems. And it’s not wise to use a ‘purer’ gold (ie 18K, 20K) cause of how soft the metal is.
When we had folks in the can’t wear stainless/gold camp we generally pointed them to niobium or titanium.
I don’t know if you’re even interested in trying it again – but if so, say that you’re allergic to Stainless & check out other options.
🙁 🙁 🙁 that is very very sad 🙁 🙁 🙁
That really sucks 🙁
I agree about the neosporin, I’ve had the same experience. Works pretty well. Sucks, though.
Yes, it totally sucks. My body seems to have a hard time dealing with piercings, too. For some reason, Tea Tree oil makes a big difference. I still have occasional problems with my nipple piercings even seven years later. Tea tree fixes it. Although… I’m thinking that maybe I should just change the hoops. Might be a good thing – especially since they were a present from my first Dom.
