Puppy and I are having a disagreement

And I decided that as usual, I will bring the topic to lj for more data points.

This is a poll on peeing. Mostly directed at boys, but girls are more than welcome to answer if they want to. 🙂

Thank you for your time. 🙂

The only time this would be ok is if there is something wrong with the toilet….

    he pees in the sink?

    Time to housebreak the puppy

I actually don’t see a problem with it. The water all cycles to the same place and urine isn’t exactly a problem.

He is rather tall and frankly… yeah. There is no ‘missing’ with the sink. I think ‘missing’ is the nastiest thing.

Yeah. Urine’s actually pretty sanitary, all things considered. It just smells bad. For the same reason, I have no problem with people who pee in the shower, though I rarely do.

          urine is NOT sanitary

Your own urine is antiseptic to you only – not to other people.

            *snort*

Having urine in the sink is hardly the most extreme thing I have done with it.

Well, urine is sanitary when within the bladder. Once out of the bladder, it’s as unsanitary as the skin it passes by, or so goes my understanding. That’s not to say that it’s not gross.

So long as he flushes with sufficient water to get the urine past the trap, it’s probably ok. It may be better to, after he’s done peeing, to close the sink, fill the basin up some amount, then open it, to help flush.

I have peed in the sink once. By “the sink” I do not mean a sink in my current place of residence, but I *did* live there at the time.

Just so that and don’t see this and, y’know, freak out 😛

Hey, with only a single bathroom in the residence and a minimum of three people home, I figure I’m lucky not to know where else you may have peed.

my comment about “most appropriate location” is that if there is no toilet, or no toilet is available, I will do what makes the most sense. This includes bushes in a park, or, on one occaision, a litter box (it is bad to have one toilet, one person with food poisoning, and one person who drinks as much water as I do).

I didn’t consider the sink (which may be a logistics issue), but the shower could have worked.

(why am I sharing all of this????)

I regularly pee in the shower (when I’m showering alone; I haven’t found other partners who appreciate that yet), and I suppose if I think about it, sink isn’t that much different. I just would worry slightly about spillage, or not getting it all cleaned up after.

But hey, it might be good for cleaning soap scum.

when i lived in a bedsit in brighton, england, i would occasionally pee in the sink if i wasn’t presentable to go to the bathroom downstairs, or if i was feeling really lazy.

a bedsit is like a studio apartment with a kitchen area but you share a bathroom with other people. it’s not really a communal living situation, so i didn’t know the other people who lived there, and i had to be dressed to go to the bathroom.

however, if there was a toilet next to the sink in question, i think it’s preferable to use the toilet. if this is the situation you’re describing, why does he pee in the sink?

Cause he’s tall and the toilet is low is his explanation.

I really have no idea. I think it is odd and he was trying to convince me that it is common.

        boys can sit down too

While I have indeed peed in the sink, it’s not part of my daily routine. But then again, I’m not tall.

Why is it that he doesn’t sit down. Seems like that would close the distance, so to speak. I know it does not violate a law of nature.

boys can sit down too, but it’s not worth it

Sitting puts pressure on the plumbing in a way which makes it much harder to completely empty the bladder. At least in my experience.

What I tried to say in the poll, but failed, was… Not only have I once peed in a sink, I also have peed on mulitple occasions in the middle of a hotel meeting room in front of more than 50 people who were very attentively watching me.

And we won’t say here what I was peeing on.

    😉

I’m probably an anomalous datapoint, being a “Yes” and simultaneously being female, but I used to do it all the time in college. All the rooms had sinks, and when I wasn’t dressed or whatever, sure why not. Run a little water down afterwards, it all ends up the same place.

Lowest potential energy solution and all that.

As far as the height reason, sure, I’d be all in favor! D’you know how much splatter there is from a guy standing up with a 2 foot drop to the toilet! Yuk! It gets everywhere!

It’s also wastes much less water than flushing the toilet every time you pee, so it’s more eco-freindly too!

I’m with you all the way! I do it all the time, mostly to avoid the splatter from the 2 foot drop to the toilet.

Like you said, the water all ends up in the same place, so why not? Just rinse the sink out afterwards, and you’re all set to wash down the veggies. 🙂

I used to pee in the sink a lot when I lived in a residential hotel. I had my own sink but had to go down the hall for the toilet. Or times when I wanted to use the toilet but my boo wanted it too. Seemed to happen after sex more. I haven’t done it in while though. My man, he is short so going pee in the sink would require some effort. Also he likes to pee sitting down cause he’s got piercings that make aiming a bit difficult.

There was a utility sink in my parent’s old garage/office. If I didn’t want to back into the house or occasionally if the main bathroom was occupied (separate building, one bathroom) I’d pee in the sink. I’ve also peed in my dog’s “litter box” outside. I like peeing outside. 🙂

The only time I peed in a bathroom sink was when I was in someone else’s motel room that had a badly stopped up toilet.
