I realize that asking if anyone wants to come is necessarily only aimed at the people on my friends list who are under 35. Yes, I know that some of you feel discriminated against. You have already whined at me about it.
Moving along.

discrimination
yeah, yeah — I’m still waiting for the mother-ship to take me to the planet of over-40, Chinese/Mexican, poly, kinky, queers… or I guess that could have been: queer, poly, kinky, over-40, Chinese/Mexicans
hmmm
Re: discrimination
😛
Thinking about it. May have a conflicting engagement.
No whining here, despite being over 35 (40 in a little over a week), but I wonder, why 35? Just curious.
Honestly I’m not entirely sure why that age was picked. I didn’t do it.
*nod*
I didn’t think you had, I was just curious and thought you might know. It’s probably something simple like “We had to set a limit somewhere, this sounds as good as 34 or 36…”
Have fun. 🙂
yes
It was chosen out of a need to draw the “younger generation” line somewhere.

like you asked for my 2 cents. 😉
I think 35 is the range that other organizations use nationally for this type of thing. Whether that’s based on something significant or not is another question, but I suspect it’s just a trend.
TNG, or The Next Generation uses 35 for most chapters nationally I think – Boymeat would know. Locally in Portland the TNG group decided 40 was a better age to cut things off at, and they decided that partners of people under 40 could participate too.
(last I checked, haven’t been involved in about a year I guess)
I value space for young people, I just look to those groups that offer it to see if they are truly building relationships across generations and getting those young people connected to the broader community. I hate segregating people, it hurts my “organizer heart” but I hear over and over again people want it.
*shrugs*
I am coming from Rockridge. You are on the way.

On the opposite end of whining, who got the idea that 35 is “young”? 😉
