The class I liked with the teacher who loved me: A
The class I hated with the teacher who hated me: B (He gave me a B for a 93%. I think his scale is fucked up but whatever.)
The grad class that I did a pretty bad job in because I just had trouble being engaged: B+
Overall total grad school GPA so far: 3.454
One credential class left to take and I’m taking it with my favorite teacher.
Student teaching. (I don’t even think I get a grade I think this is pass/fail.)
Three masters classes.
Two sections of working on my thesis.
Think I’ll be able to bring it up to a 3.5 if I actually buckle down and do more work next year? (Yeah–most of my grad career has been very lackadaisical [I am so proud that I got the spelling of that right on the first try!] and I’ve been scattered and unfocused for the last two semesters.)
Certainly not as good as I could do, but really I don’t think I should be ashamed of my performance to date. Although let me tell you, my inner perfectionist sees a 3.4 as being almost as bad as a 2.0. It’s pretty sick.
So was a 93% a B for everybody, or just you cuz you hated him?
PS: Yay! Congratulations! Those are good grades despite what your IP says.
That is just the standard for the class.
People associate grading on a curve with pulling up shoddy grades, but it can work in reverse. A hardware class I took my soph year was graded on a curve, and I ended up with a B for a 94. Kinda killed the whole “grade on a curve” magic for me.

What warrants an A in the class with the hated teacher?
Perhaps the department head should know that his grading scale is a little off? I mean, if you did the work that warrants an A in 95% of the other classes, perhaps your grade should reflect that. Because a transcript doesn’t say “93%” it just says “B”.
Think of it as an opportunity to have a philosophical discussion about differences in grading with someone who’s job it is to oversee that sort of thing.
Anyway, good job. The B+ in the class you couldn’t get engaged in is the most impressive to me, because that’s the sort of thing I have the most trouble with.
In this department you don’t question grades. Especially not a B. Yeah. The answer would be to take it and run.
Ok.
Just out of curiousity, does this sort of topic come up in any of the classes in the department? It just seems like such a philosophical issue that it should be somewhere.

hmm, the scales I have dealt with have had an A start between 90 and 93, which says to me that a 93 is somewhere between B+ and A.
But I think your grades, are, overall, something to be pleased with, esp. for the not-engaging class
