The stuff I have read so far does not indicate that we can make one another sicker. It’s a virus. You have it or you don’t. (Oh, and stats say that by 40 years old 85%-90% of people have antibodies, which mean that you do actually have it–you just don’t have symptoms.) Apparently this is one more herpes virus. *snort* So it lives in my body forever and can shed who knows when for the rest of my life. Fucking fabulous.
Bummer, honey. I had mono when I was about your age and it wasn’t fun. It took me several months to really recover fully. (Upside for me: I lost a lot of weight.) It isn’t always so bad, so I hope it’s not severe for either of you. Take care of each other…
I had it in college, it was fun. Not as much fun as the fact that it so knocked my immune system over the head that I was sick with one illness after the next for the next solid year… but fun.
Incidentally, if you need company or emergency sick-people groceries, let me know. I shall somehow resist the temptation to lick you or the Puppy, however appetizing you may appear 😛
You’re pretty cool for claiming your messy human body though, and educating yourself along the way. Kudos.
So- anticipating that this will be a drag on your immune system for a while to come, it makes me curious what kind of dietary stuff can be done to boost your response system over the long term, say the next year. It’s not really about getting over the mono, though I’m sure it will speed that up too- but about strengthening the reponse to the post mono scenario.
It makes me want to start researching. But, I have to get up and get my butt to work right now. Hang in there! Keep us updated.
I only work until 4 (hopefully) on Friday. If there’s anything I can do, please let me know. And I’m disturbed that Angelbob and I both thought “licking you” was prime on the list of things not to do.
Well, you are both extremely odd. It is probably why I like you. Around 4 on Friday I will still be in class in Santa Cruz. I will be done around 5:30 and then I get a two hour drive home. So I’m very happy for you that you are available earlier than that–but it sucks to be me. Heh.
When did you make your comments all funny and stuff? Yeah, I’ll take a swing with the clue by four…Tee hee.
Question, m’dear. Have you guys both had a blood test to confirm mono? I’m honestly a little concerned by two things….
One – both of you coming down with it at the same time seems a little funny, making it seem like you both would have been exposed to it from another source at the same time…my understanding is that it has a relatively long potential incubation period averaging 3-5 weeks.
Two – Puppy having been out of the country so recently seems of concern – I don’t have any specific differential diagnoses to offer, but without a confirmed blood test, I’m worried about other potential illnesses being overlooked.
This is the rational medical sheep speaking – I have a compelling need to thorough evaluate health conditions in addition to providing tea and snuggles. Big hugs.
D’oh!
That *would* explain why he’s been feeling slow and un-energetic 🙁
Bummer.
I’ve managed to avoid this – does it get worse if you both have it and stay in contact with each other?

Being a human is messy.
Well, hey. At least you two get to be miserable together.
And if, after all this, you haven’t killed each other, you’ll be that much stronger.
Being a human may be messy, but the cyborgization process is even messier.
Having been assimilated by the Redmond Collective, I can say that you speak the truth… :p
Suck. *hugs*
bummer. (((hugs)))

Puppy hasn’t really eaten in days (which is bad because he is rather emaciated already) but my appetite seems to still be at a normal-ish level.
Oh well.
*hugs*
take care.
I will be in your neighborhood (ish) this weekend and a few days following. I will check in and see if you need anything.
Oh honey. Poopy. Sorry. You’ll get through it doll. X

Have you had this before?
And do we need to be rescheduling the drive?
It doesn’t matter how sick I am for the next 10 days I have to push myself. That means that right after the classes I am likely to be even more ill.
Yeah, I think we need to reschedule. 🙁 I’m really sorry honey.

Grocery store is already on my to-do list for today. I am stockpiling. I’m not that sick yet and I’m going to be prepared before I am.
Sucks ass doll. Sorry.

I will think on this during the day as I have any spare brain power to do so (my list of stuff to do is already rather impressive.)
Thank you honey
