Welcome to the educational system

I suppose this is what I get for all that time skipping school. I wasn’t exposed to as many varieties of illness so now I am getting sick left and right. My stomach and intestinal track hate me.

I offered the little darlings 5 points for the day if I don’t have to yell at anyone. 🙂 Basically, I asked them to show me mercy. We’ll see how it goes.

Ok, honestly–I anticipate good results. I am very understanding of people not feeling well in general and I tend to help them out when they aren’t at their best. Lots of leeway and such.

Ooooooh! And they are getting out books when they finish their tests WITHOUT PROMPTING!!! Ok, even though I feel like I was hit by a truck I anticipate a good day. *happy finger dance of joy which does not require upseting my stomach*

I’ve heard from most of my teacher friends that you spend the first year getting sick a lot. It’s not nearly so bad afterwards, unless you change grade more than about two or three grades. Your exposure or lack 10 or 20 years ago doesn’t make much difference to what’s going around these days.

I love your icon. I sent the quote to everyone I know at work.

I’ve done pretty well with not getting terribly sick, and I’ve got preschoolers who start at all points of the year. September’s rough and so is April, but I’m fairly well convinced it’s as much because of the bigger weather shifts and the upcoming/recently finished vacations as much as anything. Plus in September we get a bigger influx of new kids, even though new kids show up all through the year. I get colds. Not too bad given that when I was doing my bachelor’s, I got upper respiratory tract infection two or three *quarters* every year for all five years I was at that university. Didn’t matter if I was in the dorms or an apartment, working in the preschool or not, I got sick. And for 2-4 weeks at a time. I’m not doing that anymore – I get sick bad for a few days now, maybe a week at a time, and then it lingers for another week or two, but that’s it. I’m chalking it up to entirely different stress levels now than when I was doing my undergrad work.

    Best wishes, sweetie.

I hope your day went well, and that your Gastro-intestinal upset settles soon.

Even so, I feel obligated to point out that most of your links don’t work. In fact, the only two that do work are the Houseplant of Gor and Matisse’s Column.

And because that houseplants episode is simply and completely odd, I feel further obligated to quote it thus:

“Borin picked up the watering can, and muchly watered the plant.”

I’m not at all certain of it’s meaning, but it caught my attention, and therefore must have significance.
