Awesome

My mother in law threatened to sick lawyers on me! Or rather, she said that her not doing so already was a sign of the warm welcome she gave me. When directly asked, repeatedly, for what she refused to answer and just menacingly said, “We have the time and money to make things bad for you.”

Wow. That was… Special.

Side note: it makes me very unhappy that when I am ranting about this psycho I have to use the tag “family.” *sigh*

    Um yah. What a sweetheart.
Maybe she thinks steaing her boy is actually a legal crime.
Remember you don’t have to call her family and you don’t have to deal with her. If she was trying to prove she isn’t psycho she just spectacularly failed.
Yah and I’m thinking to stay away from the psycho, any energy of your own added isn’t likely to be taken to a good place.
“Sorry you feel that way. I have to go now.”
Works just fine. And then ignore this psycho. Politeness plus nothing else can be a very useful tool.

In a way I think she might be saving you time and illusions about what is possible with her. She’s waving a big red flag for you.

You’ve got better things to do you beautiful you.

You could use a new tag labeled “inlaws”. But yeah, I get the feeling that a simple change of labels ain’t gonna make you happier.

        But outlaw sounds sexy.
Hrm. Guns low in the holster wearing chaps and nothing but… hrm.
Yah too sexy a name for the mans parents.

      Maybe stupidheads?
I’m thinking “Noah’s parents”. It’s precise and truthful. “Mother in law” implies by some legal mojo the woman has been made into rightkindomes mother which is not the case. I think that’s what they call adoption. That hasn’t occurred. Noah’s parents. Not as fun as stupidheads but perhaps less drama laden.

That’s really uh, “silly” of her to threaten legal action against you. She should realize that if she sues you, she is also effectively sueing her son. What was her gripe with you in the first place? I’m afraid I may have missed that.

Part of me would want to see her try. Judges aren’t so happy about frivolous lawsuits these days, and a legal smackdown sounds like just this woman’s ticket.

Maybe we should get together and have a in-law bitch session. Mine has not thought of suing me yet, but given the things she has said about me for the last couple years, I wouldn’t put it past her.
