🙂
Don’t you love Christmas vacation? Nothing to do but clean house, get rid of stuff, and post on lj. I’ll shut up again soon, I promise.
We have four prints that we would like to get rid of. The frames are about 6″ by 6″ square and in the center is a smaller kanji character. According to writing on the back they say: Laughter, Clarity, Love, and Energy. They have mottled colored backgrounds in the inner 3″ by 3″ square with black characters. They are actually nice looking but I am of the opinion that if I have to read the translation on the back and hope it is right, I shouldn’t have it up on my walls.
Anyone want them?

Fucking priceless! I’m so with you on that!
And don’t even get me started on white people getting kanji tats because they look “cool.” Bah.

Right there with you. I read a very interesting article a while back where they went and interview three American artists who do Kanji tattoos and three Japanese artists who do English letting tattoos. One of the Americans was from Japan and actually could read Kanji and at least tried to tell people what it meant but would still put gramatically incorrect phrases down because they “look cool”, while one of the Japanese artists was from the US and would actually give people the proper lettering (much easier in English). The rest all just grouped things randomly and made stuff up. Really sad.
I kinda like white folk getting kanji tats. Two examples of what happens:
Me: “Do you know what means?”
Them: “Uhh, no.”
Me: “Wow, sorry dude”
OR:
Me: “Do you know what means?” “Hmmm, must be another dialect.”
Them: “Yeah, it means xxx.”
Me:
BTW these interchanges are real, it’s soooo much fun.
Yes! The walls in my apartment are huge and need prints to fill them.
I have someone offering to come pick them up from me on Friday. This has the dual advantage of: being fairly soon, and allowing me to revel in maximum laziness. Do I hear a counter bid?
if blackrose doesn’t take them, they sound like they’d make excellent setpieces.
let me know.

*grin*
nah, I’m equally lazy, if not more so. If she’s making that kind of effort, let her have them. Plus tomorrow’s “Foundation Garment Shopping Day.” with Laura, and the two activities sort of cancel each other out…
However I hope you will stir yourself to come out to Ammy’s Games night?
I don’t really know Ammy and I wasn’t invited. So have fun. 🙂
mmkay. sometimes I overestimate the degree to which my social circles intersect.
*waves*
Her!?!?!?
yeah, blackrose. she had dibs before I did.
based on the pic,and handle, I figured, “girl”.
unless you’re the one who’s driving over to save the effort. which of the other interested parties was doing so, wasn’t specified to me.
teehee
I am also interested.
