White Trash Movie Marathon

Since I’m forcibly having a tooth removed (Dear God this shall be Not Fun) on Friday I figure that Saturday is a good day to not do much. So I’m going to watch movies. 🙂

I’m thinking of starting off with one of my favorite trilogies: Smokey and the Bandit. If you haven’t seen 2 and 3… well, you aren’t missing much. But I like them. 🙂

Then, depending on the whims of Netflix, I shall move on to: Convoy, Stroker Ace, and Hooper.

If Netflix lets me down, I have movies still in their wrappers I haven’t watched recently.

I am not offering food as I will be wincingly injesting jello, smoothies, and pudding. All I will ask is that someone at least occasionally lets out a “Yeee Haw!” with me. 🙂

Good luck with your trip into oral hell. (Yes, I dislike going to dentists. Why do you ask?)

I’d say my thoughts would be with you, but I’m afraid Friday’s going to be a different sort of hellish day for me, being Primal inundated, and all.

And if I tried to say I’d be up for any kind of social activity on Saturday, it’d be a damned lie, because I’ll probably be a puddle of tired mush. Or in jail, for having killed my partner for signing us up for doing the party to begin with. All depends on how things go.

But in this moment, let me wish you luck and good health and plenty of yee-haaaaaa’s. If you can, that is. Doesn’t a really rowsing yee-haaaaaa require jaw movements that you’re going to want to avoid? 😛

As luck would have it… I recently went on a buying spree and bought several of my favorite movies online. So far, two have arrived.

Lake Consequence – one of my favorite movies and the movie which currently holds my all time personal record of movie seen the most number of times. It’s Zalman King. And pretty sexy. With Joan Severance and Billy Zane.

Liquid Sky – which previously held the record for most number of times seen. It’s also pretty wicked, obscure, sexy, and strange. Cross dressing, homosexuality, incest, heroin, and alien mind control. What’s not to like?

I haven’t seen either one in years because my previous copy of Lake Consequence was tape and I haven’t had a tape player in almost a decade. I could probably be persuaded to bring either of them by…

I could also offer a couple netflix – the glass virgin, (I’m on an emily mortimer kick recently), and some foreign thing that was recommended to me because of the rape scenes.

Part of the purpose of a white trash movie marathon–they don’t require actual thought. I’m most likely going to be cranky and fussy and want the comfort of the familiar.

I had no idea you had such a thing for Burt Reynolds….I am a fan of SO many of those movies you listed!

Unfortunately, I can’t make it, as you might suspect. But I will offer the encouraging advice that if your oral surgeon’s any good, this might not be too horrible. I had one wisdom tooth out on an emergency basis in the office and the other three out at once, and honestly, I was never really in any pain, and I medicated with the hard stuff pretty minimally. If I may offer a couple of tips….try to stay upright (propped up with pillows as needed) for the first 24 hours, to minimize swelling, and wrapping bags of frozen peas on your cheeks is a GREAT way to manage the inflammation. OH, and whatever you do, don’t try to use a straw….bad for clotting. 🙂 You’ll have to be spoon fed lovingly….

My wisdom tooth experience involved four dry sockets and agonizing blinding pain for about four days.

      I’m scared shitless.

I couldn’t come for the whole fest, I probably couldn’t stay even the length of one movie. But I’d love to drop by and wish you well, seeing as I haven’t seen you since I returned to the bay area!

No… never been there. E-mail me? Plus, let me know the time-window (so I don’t show up before you’ve gotten back from the dentist :-)…

Aww crap! I need to get a tooth removed too – one of my 2 front teeth on the top.

I regret that I will not be able to make it to your party (but it does sound awesome) – I have to work. 🙁

    Enjoy the movies!

    Yeee Haw!
