I like that he talks about how math is an art, but I don’t want him anywhere near a curriculum design. We’ve tried his ideas. They’ve failed, for a variety of reasons, all of which still hold true. Just as most school art classes don’t actually teach most students anything useful about how to do or make art, and leave most of the kids believing that they’re just not creative, math classes taught the way he wants them to be taught would leave a few kids really enjoying math, enough to become good mathematicians, and leave the rest even more convinced they can’t do math, to the point where they couldn’t even use calculators effectively.
