I’m pretty sure I drove past a drug deal a couple blocks from my house. That both doesn’t surprise me and really bothers me.

My mom and I watched one between two punks and a homeless dude right in front of my house. It was night, the porch light was on, they could plainly see us… I couldn’t believe it. But, not the first time I’ve seen that in front of my house. Cops don’t come when I call, so what do ya do? The one thing it’s taught me is that giving money to “homeless” people is 99% of the time supporting drug culture.
Yikes and ick!
we have a supplier of some sort right at the end of our road in our nice, upper-middle-class neighborhood. he’s been raided at least three times that i’ve seen by folks who come in with a dozen people in swat gear and dogs.
they arrested one of the guys for counterfeiting, but have been unable to prosecute anybody on drug charges.
i don’t like having him there, but i’ll say the neighborhood is very calm, quiet and safe (except for the raids) because he don’t put up with no shit. i’ve seen him tell kids walking down the street to turn down their boom-boxes.
i feel sorry for any poor, dumb bastard that would burgle a house around here because i suspect the guy don’t want no cops around for no reason at all.
One of the safest chicago suburbs was the one favored by the mob. They all lived in normal nice upper middle class homes. About 1/6 of the neighborhood was thought to be mob, but no one knew for sure which homes.
Lord help the poor shlub who hit the wrong house, so place was very safe.
Call the cops and report it. I’d even call them days afterwards and say that you saw this happen and would appreciate if they stepped up patrols in the neighborhood. It doesn’t matter if they do not come, it becomes a statistic in the computer. They use those statistics to pick where they are going to focus on patrolling.
Also if Fremont has community based policing meetings, go to one. Make sure they know your concerns.
The basic thing you want to happen is to get the pressure on before it becomes a real problem.
I’ve sat down and had a good long talk with the police captain that covers my area. I’m under orders to call if I have any concern. They might not be able to take any legal action but they can keep a close eye on it.
