Would anyone on my friends list like some bitters or vermouth? For some reason we have a really lot of both and we don’t need either at all.

No Manhattans for you?
I don’t even know what is in one. Yes, I could look it up–but I’m lazy. 😛
Whiskey, two kinds of vermouth and bitters, says the web.
Bourbon, sweet vermouth, bitters, and a boozy cherry go in mine. And it’s one of my favorite drinks. 🙂
Manhattan.
Essentially, it’s a fancy way of ordering bourbon.
For mine:
3oz. Maker’s Mark
Sweet Vermouth
Bitters
A Cherry
1)Get a martini glass, throw some ice cubes in there and douse ’em with vermouth.
2)Throw some ice in a shaker, the bourbon and a couple drops of bitters.
3)Shake up (or stir, whatever) the shaker.
4)Casually toss out the ice cubes and most of the vermouth from the glass (at this point, the glass is cold, and that’s most of the vermouth’s function). There’ll be about half an ounce or so of vermouth left in the glass, which is what you want.
5)Put a cherry in the vermouth, optionally, you can put some of the cherry juice from the jar in there, too.
6)Pour the contents of the shaker (cold, bitter bourbon) into the glass.
Voila.
I’ll pick up some bitters from you on Tuesday.
