The internet is letting me down

So I’m looking for a recipe for putting broccoli into chicken noodle soup. I like recipes. WHAT IS UP WITH ALL THE FLIPPIN VELVEETA CHEESE?!!?! I don’t buy that crap and I’m certainly not making a special trip to the store for it. Ew.

Velveeta is specially designed to melt well, making it very easy and predictable to use in cooking, especially for those people who don’t live in an area (and a time) when more specialized cheeses are easily available.

It’s also a generational comfort food for some folks, like many others.

Yeah, I still have a soft spot for mac and cheese made with Velveeta, even if I haven’t had it in years and years.

But I’ve always hated all the recipes that mix cheese and broccoli, period. Nor did I ever like brassicas and chicken together.

      That said…
This one looks super-easy: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Chicken-Egg-and-Broccoli-Soup-103103 And parmesan garnish isn’t that objectionable. :p

This one gets extra points from me for having ginger and potatoes http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Chicken-Vegetable-Soup-with-Ginger-2214

You can put a minus sign before a word to forcibly exclude it from a search, so if you google for

recipe chicken noodle soup broccoli -velveeta

that should get you want you need.

What about adding cooked broccoli to the soup at the last minute? So it can’t get overcooked, but still can mesh with the soup? Maybe?

    It melts more readily.

Personally, I’m not a fan of broccoli in soup. Soup and broccoli aren’t really compatible. I’d do a side dish of steamed broccoli instead.
