I am trying to get the book done by March 1st. I’m not planning to shop around for a real publisher or an agent. I’m going to self-publish on Amazon first and probably branch off from there.

I don’t know what I’m going to do for a cover yet. I have vague ideas but I don’t know how to turn them into reality.

I suppose my budget is $300. That’s three months of fun money. It’s all I will be able to wring out of the year. Which means I don’t expect that much from an editor. 🙂

Do you need proofreading, copy editing, and/or layout design/production assistance? I’ve actually been looking into book prep software for e-books, so this might work out for both of us.

How many words is it? (Approximate is fine.)

You may wish to speak with a mutual friend (Vito, perhaps? Paula and/or Andrew?) to get an idea whether I’m someone you’d want to work with. If so, let me know and perhaps we could work something out!

I am currently at: 58,096 words. I don’t know how much proofreading and copy editing will be necessary. I’m actually fairly good at that part. 🙂 And Noah is reading and pointing out most of my obvious idiocies.

I am so close to this story that I don’t know where it doesn’t make sense. I need someone to help me figure out where I need transitions, where it doesn’t make sense. I can’t figure it out by myself.

And there is that little step where I am hella lazy and I don’t really want to learn how to format it. 🙂 So that kind of layout design stuff is probably something that I need.

          Off to email!

By the way, I’m somethingdifferent at that gmail place. 🙂

Ooohh. And she lives close enough to me that she might be able to come to my house and pat me on the head. I do like pats on the head.

I was going to suggest this.

And consider if you want proofreading, copy editing, or deeper work. I charge differently for each, and knowing what you want and what your budget allows can help you have productive negotiations with your editor.

Good luck. I am glad you wrote your book.

    Good luck! I’m all down for proofing/copy editing/editing, but there’s no way I’m plowing through 2,000 words/day with a full-time job. 😛

Love to read it in a more leisurely timeframe, though!

Oh, also, look into copyright laws and first publishing and all that- you mentioned above that you were looking to self-publish through Amazon and then branch out from there- be aware that once it’s been self-published, almost no publishing house of any size will touch it. Have fun and let me know how things go!
