If I ever win the lottery (I really should buy tickets once in a while) my family would of course want money from me because they are thoroughly charming souls that way. It would be kind of cool to buy a piece of property outright that is not very built up and put a couple of houses on it for them. Specifically houses like these. They would have completed individual little houses. I would probably even build a “town hall” in the center of the little houses so that everyone had a big dining room/kitchen to hang out in when they wanted to get together.
It’s really not an awful idea.
i would *love* one of those tiny houses.
it would be like living in your own, little space ship.
please, if you hit the lotto, could you lend me 1000 bucks for the plans?
If I ever win the Lotto I will give you the plans for Christmas and it won’t even have to be a loan. 🙂
now i hope you win the lotto even more!
I think that would be freaking awesome, and would totally chip in to live there. Especially if the town hall had a library, since that’s the main issue I see with those houses. I love my books and having an extra bedroom for them seems silly.
Originally I meant this as a deal for my bio family to get them off my back, but living near you would be good. We can have a different plot of land far far far far from my family. 😉
Marcie was looking at one of those for the building sites here. Either that or a Yurt. Is a nifty idea!
They are indeed sweet little things. I’ve fantasized about having one as an office out in the yard (when I have a house again, when I have a yard again…)

I think I’ve seen a bunch of these in Australia, they’re on the property and the Aussies call them “granny flats.”

Have you heard of a book called A Patten Language by Christopher Alexander? It’s essentially a bunch of patterns one finds in regions, towns, communities, buildings and rooms that lend themselves to a well-functioning environment and make one feel good.
One of them talks about having a community center in the middle of a small housing cluster like this. It’s some cool stuff to think about.
I don’t know the book, but it sounds neat. 🙂
What you’re describing is essentially cohousing.
All the bio family I’m talking about already cohouse but right now they do it on a too small piece of property.
You found Tumbleweed! I’ve been following the “small house” movement for a couple years now, pondering what to put on that second five acres.
It is really neato. 🙂
