I’m going to be ordering a very few hanks of rope from Monk and I’m not sure what color(s) to get. So far I have a 4mm piece in crimson and two pieces 6mm in blue. These are in addition to my random pieces of not well treated natural color lengths. 🙂 I would like to be able to do a full suspension with pretty rope. It is going to take a while. 🙂 But for now… whatcha think?
So is envy a jewel tone? More olive? Neon?
I’m trying to imagine any of these colors up against your lovely skin with your hair draped across them, and the last three on the list are thwarting me. ‘Grape’ at least is a despcriptive purple, I guess.
Well, none of these are neon. This is hemp rope, so somewhat muted. I included a link so you could go see the site.
The green is somewhat deep and trying to be true to green, as oppsed to olive. Not really a jewel tone.
The blue is very deep blue.
Oh! Linkage! Yay!
Yeah, the statutory grape name is awesome.
Strictly for color, though…. I’d go with crimson.
just for the NAME – Statutory Grape is way too fun.
I recommend a contrasting color, preferably one that can be seen in dim light. That eliminates most darker colors and tends to suggest black if it will be used over skin, lighter colors if it will be used over, (presumably black), clothing. And bright, intense middle colors like red for dual use.
I selected Crimson and Blue, but Envy Green is pretty good, too. I guess it depends if you want to do a suspension all in one color, or lots of different colors.
Yeah, I haven’t decided that yet. hrm.
If I were photographing the suspension, I think I’d prefer all one color, unless there was going to be lots and lots of rope – far more than necessary for the suspension. If you were being suspended, definitely Crimson or Blue, as the Green would clash somewhat with your hair color.
If it’s not for photography, then it’s more your choice.
That is a good point. Sounds like blue it should be then.
Red and black are pretty together….
I usually think in terms of what will photograph well.
For that reason, I would suggest sticking with one color, rather than mixing several hues. In this case, I would stick with the crimson… it’s hard to go wrong with red in a photograph.
My bias wouldn’t allow me to suggest you acquire anything but “Bridgett Blue.” 🙂
