I hereby rescind my last post. A girl got suspended for her classroom behavior today (a number of things including telling me off in spanish. I may not be fluent, but I sure understand “Fuck you bitch” and “whore”. So the school decided they didn’t want me to come back the rest of the week. ?!?! uhm. excuse me? What in the hell did I do wrong? Whatever. Fine. I am quite certain I can find ways to fill my time.

Just out of curiosity, how did you react to the event? Besides being suspended I mean.

I gotta admit, when the word “suspended” was first mentioned I thought “yay!”, but then I read on…not so “yay”.

Well, I stopped dead in my tracks for a minute. Blinked. Then said, “ok, you are going to the office.” I wrote a referrel and sent her on her way.

I would contact the school and find out what they think happened. Don’t enter in “raise a fuss” mode, but in a “what did she tell you” mode.

Perhaps it’s their policy to get a new sub if there’s a problem, just because they can.

    Another possibility …

… would be that they felt it was best for you (safety-wise) not to be around, since the girl was suspended. They may fear your becoming a target of retaliation.

    Just a thought.

    Urf. Delightful.

    SEventh grade is so charming.

I didn’t catch the rescinded post before it was rescinded, so I don’t know if there were more details about what led up to it, but in my experience things like asking students to do what they’re told, or sit in their seats and be quiet are often grounds for that kind of response. Substitutes are sooooooo unreasonable.

Well, if you’re available, the shopping date has been set for 10:30 Friday morning! Call me or email me at gmail if you want more details.
